...creates a unique climate
The Sami people divide the year into eight seasons – therefore the Sami are called the people of the eight seasons. The different seasons describe the yearly cycle of the reindeer and the reindeer herder. These seasons also affect the vegetation. The ingredients the plants produce to protect themselves against the harsh climate give fruits and berries a unique strength, vitality, aroma, and taste.
Winter tightens its grip from the end of November with the start of the Dark Season. It is a time when life must run on low power, not least because of the lack of natural light. The bear and other animals go into hibernation to save energy. Pine and spruce trees are the only green that matches the green color in the blazing northern lights. The bark of pine was an important ingredient when we developed Aarja’s COLLAGEN.Traditionally, the use of pine bark has been important to strengthen the skin’s protective barrier and connective tissue in the body. And in winter, pine bark is a good source of antioxidants.
In February, the sun finally returns. With the light and the gradual rise in temperature from the sun, the frozen nature slowly but surely begins to awaken. After a long winter, last year's saved energy is soon used up, and when March comes with longer days, the ice begins to melt and the snow takes on a different texture. Beneath the snow, the plants start preparing for the busy rush of spring, and the bear emerges from its den. The first birds return after a winter stay in the south. The bravest plants finally dare to peek through cracks in the snow. These early herbs contain life-giving vitamin C.Our own Elisabeth struggled for a long time with low energy and tiredness, and we made Aarja's VITAMIN C with zinc and Chaga. A source suitable for creating balance and fighting the tiredness that reduced her quality of life for many years.
VITAMIN C 500 WITH ZINC AND CHAGA
If you sleep too long, you may miss the brief spring in the north. Even though the sun shines for several hours a day, life awaits the true ecstasy. When the snow fully melts and the river ice breaks with a loud roar, the leaves suddenly burst out on the trees and the reindeer are ready to calve. Several light green plants surprise with their presence. The spring flowers finally dare to look up through cracks in the snow, and the sap rises in the trees. Then finally comes the time when the night bathes in light. The midnight sun provides the basis for the plants' unique adaptation in the north. The combination of light around the clock and the sharp spring air is what triggers the plants to produce their own protective substances against cold and radiation, such as antioxidants, vitamins, and omega-3 fatty acids.
We found that multivitamins and lingonberries can increase energy levels after a run in nature. After stress and exercise, we felt the need to replenish vitamins and minerals in our bodies – the result was a natural energy drink MIND&BODY BOOST. The energy drink with Nordic berries and several sources of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids to create balance and energy, especially when the afternoon tiredness sets in. For harder and longer sports performances, we created a true performance booster with Nordic sea buckthorn – Isotonic SPORTY BOOST.
In June, new life has arrived. The landscape shines in shades of green, and nature glows. The midnight sun provides the basis for growth 24 hours a day, even though the north wind brings periods of cold nights. The focus for all parents; birds, animals, and people feed the new life with proteins, minerals, and vitamins that give energy and build young and older bodies. The mineral MSM in organic sulfur – is one of the most important minerals to support the body's many processes, cells, and build connective tissue. We made OptiMSM+C with a combination of the world's purest MSM and added the Nordic super blueberries for natural taste and effect. The young ones in the family prefer MSM when the mineral taste is not too strong, and a plus is that the antioxidants build resilience.
OPTIMSM®, VITAMIN C AND BLUEBERRY
The summer in the north is not long, but it is fully enjoyed from the end of June. Everyone who comes north at this time of year comments on how vivid the colors are in nature. It is as if the flowers, the leaves on the trees, herbs, and berries have a bit more natural coloring – which is true. Blueberries are dark blue because of extra antioxidants, and the cloudberry takes on an extra red-orange hue on the islands along the coast. Even the trees have a lot of resin and thus a strong green color on the leaves. In the rivers, the water is clear, and the fish awaken in blue, clear water. Low energy in this beautiful season can be a sign that the body is lacking something. A family member of ours was diagnosed with a B12 deficiency, with low energy levels, shortness of breath, and heart palpitations. We therefore developed a natural vegan supplement with B12 with Nordic blueberries. It helps the brain, nervous system, and immune system for balance and resilience.
NATURAL B12, B9 FOLATE AND LINGONBERRY
At the end of July, the midnight sun bids farewell for the year, and gradually the evenings grow darker. People look forward to the year's forest and mountain walks, not least because it is time to pick bilberries and lingonberries. Many gain energy through short and long walks in nature, and sometimes the muscles cry out after several hours of walking in steep hills and rough terrain. Håkon has had many years in demanding leadership positions. His best advice against stress is activities like running in the mountains and forests. For Håkon, physical activity is an important foundation for good health, and to strengthen the muscles, nervous system, heart, and prevent calf cramps, Aarja developed a unique MAGNESIUM with the best and purest sources added Nordic lingonberries.
When autumn is in full swing in mid-September, with colder nights and light snowfall, the trees draw their energy back to their roots. This process gives strong orange and red autumn colors to the leaves. Harvesting nature’s surplus is the focus, and the first northern lights dance in the sky. For the family, the focus is on digging up the potatoes and picking mushrooms and berries. The highlight for many is the start of the year’s grouse hunt. Later comes the moose hunt and the time to gather and sort reindeer in reindeer fences for the Sami. This is hard work, requiring strength and good bone structure. Natural calcium is an important mineral for maintaining normal bone structure and blood clotting. Aarjas Boone Boost also contains D3 from lichen and the popular vitamin K2 along with as many as 72 other natural trace minerals. When the skin absorbs less sun, the body needs a supplement of VITAMIN D3 to ensure good absorption of the important minerals calcium and phosphorus.
With the first heavy snowfall, the bear prepares to save energy and readies itself for hibernation. The last migratory birds leave their nesting place in the bird cliff by the coast. The sun’s rays grow fewer until the sun takes a temporary farewell at the end of November. This is the time to replenish vitamin D3 and good marine fatty acids to maintain the brain’s and body’s vital functions. Aarja’s OMEGA3 KRILL contains marine oils of top quality, EHD and DHA fatty acids made from krill, a tiny crustacean living in the world’s coldest waters. The crustacean contains marine antioxidants with a good content of astaxanthin and choline, which means that Aarja OMEGA3 KRILL provides you with pure and effective fatty acids that the body, and especially the heart, greatly appreciates. Everyone who has grown up in the north has, throughout childhood, replenished omega-3 fatty acids during the winter months. This is because the body itself cannot produce these.
